Good news for music fans out in the northern suburbs; Blowfish Restaurant has partnered with Sit the Folk Down to host live music at Blowfish on Friday afternoons
Fri 20 Oct: Matt Carstens
Fri 27 Oct: Jon Shaban
Blowfish Restaurant, Blouberg, 5pm-7pm
The forward-thinking folks at Blowfish Restaurant have started up some live entertainment, which takes place every Friday night. The shows are co-produced by local promoters Sit the Folk Down, a move that Blowfish GM Marc Scheidel feels is a smart move:
“After meeting with STFD we were impressed with their aptitude to read the restaurant guests and suggest the perfect mix of artists to complement our offering,” he tells THE SHOW. “It’s great that they want to promote live music locally. From an operational side, they take care of the sound equipment and the artists, so it’s hassle free entertainment (for us).”
Sit The Folk Down started out as an initiative taking music into the homes of local music fans, with the intention of reigniting a passion for local music as well as a live music culture, by creating a sought after listening and playing environment for artist and fan alike.
Scheidel is extremely happy with the results so far: “We were very impressed, our first artist was Ruby June and she was fantastic. And we’re sure the rest of the lineup will be just as great.”
What makes Scheidel feel that the music adds to the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant?
“Live music should be fun and enhance an atmosphere. If you rarely see live music, it is easy to forget how much work goes into that killer beat, sweet riff, or catchy melody. We want our customers to sit down and be close enough to see the passion and energy these artists bring.
“At Blowfish it’s about sharing experiences, and there’s no better way to end your week with your favourite cocktail, some delicious seafood and live music all while taking in arguably the best view of Table Mountain.”
