She’s a Top 5 finalist of this year’s espYoungLegends music competition, and now Asanda Mqiki is kicking off her planned dates of Cape Town. Mqiki is raising finance for her first ever solo studio album, which will be recorded in the Mother City.
The crowdfunding campaign for Asanda Mqiki’s debut album has just launched on www.thundafund.com and more information is available there – to make it fun and worthwhile, supporters have a variety of packages to choose from that include a private concert, executive producer credits, personalised and dedicated tracks and merchandise as well as pre-ordered CDs.
Mqiki won the Standard Bank Gold Ovation Award for Jazz at the National Arts Festival as well as the MEC award for Best Individual Performer in 2015. In 2016, she was the only African artist selected to perform at the inaugural LoveBusk online festival, which saw her performance from the roof of the Fugard Theatre live-streamed all over the world. She has twice performed by invitation at the Gothenburg Culture Festival in Sweden.
